We took a video today to show what progress has been made. Come take a look!
Mike is not anxious at all apparently...that's a good sign.
I'm an architect and my husband Mike is a radio guy. We bought this building in October 2010 to house his Radio Stations; Radio Free ENC ESPN 1490AM, 103.9FM and FOX Sports at 1450AM here in New Bern, NC and we are committed to looking for Green Opportunities and efficiencies we can realistically take advantage of during this renovation. Follow this blog to see how we do and what you can do!

BB&T Financing
The project is being funded in part by BB&T who has been very patient with us and the project. They stuck with us even though it look over a year to close on the property. Thanks Brent!

Plans and Elevations
The ultimate recycling! We're excited to be re-using a building with a long history of use in New Bern. The land was last sold December 1, 1945 and originally had two houses on the lot that were replaced with our building in the 1960's. It's been a lot of things over the years, from a meat packing and distribution warehouse to a mechanical contractor's office to the Biblical House of God, to a Mexican grocery, and now...a radio station.

K.B. Stephens Co.
We had a wonderful lighting rep come in and talk about some really interesting LED office lighting products. One of the most interesting fixtures was a Lithonia RTLED light. It's a regular 2x2 LED fixture and can be connected with CAT5 cables to a light sensor that can automatically adjust the lighting according to how much daylighting you're already getting from windows. Or you can individually control each fixture at each location. And, each fixture is only about 45watts which is less than a regular single incandescent bulb.

We get a dumpster!
After making an offer to purchase the building in November 2009, and after two attorneys a surveyor and a lot of time at the register of deeds office, we finally closed in late October 2010. And, now we have a dumpster! Granted, there is not very much to throw away, and we're trying to save what we can to send over to the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store just a couple of blocks away. I never thought I'd be so happy to see a dumpster and a port-a-potty! But here we are, starting another renovation project.
